Ateneo de Davao University Summer Writer's Workshop (2024)

Way before I ended up in Mapua, I used to study in Ateneo. This was technically my last time in an Atenean setting at the time---at least, until the end of this academic year. I was accepted for a one-act play that I wrote specifically for the workshop, and it was very fun being around fellow writers. Being in there and getting feedback from certified, well-known writers (Jade Mark Capinanes and Macario Tiu, among others) helped me develop my craft as well, and some of what they've said have stuck to me, even two years on.

LinkedIn Learning Certificates
All of these certificates were obtained in the span of 2 years. While they are moderately dull for those who just have to get through them to get a grade, they are definitely useful when listened through thoroughly. A particular course that I sat through helped with job interviews---proper etiquette, what to prepare for, what not to do, etcetera. It definitely helped with the task that I was about to face (a mock interview for Philippine Red Cross) and future tasks as well, not to mention potential interviews in the future when I inevitably need to seek jobs.
Spoken Poetry 2nd Runner Up - 9th Foundation Week
Photo sourced from The Compass.
The 9th Foundation Week was the first time I ever participated in an event this big since 6th grade. It was my first true foray into poetry, especially spoken poetry---and back then, I had no point of reference or experience with writing or performing spoken poetry. It was a good learning experience, however---helped me figure out what the faults in my writing were, and the faults in performing. It made future performing tasks I was given something I was more familiar with, and it set me up for a better performance.
High Honors (A.Y. 2024 - 2025)
My first year in the school and I somehow managed to be high honors. Go figure. I'm still very proud that I managed to do so well in my first year here, especially with all the hiccups along the way, but it does leave me with this pressure that I have to meet the same standards this year. I haven't let it get to me too much, but just enough for me to want to put more effort into things than I would before.
21 Chump Street: The Musical (2025)
In collaboration with Mapua Curtain Call. Faces censored for privacy.
Being part of a theater production on its own is crazy. Being in one of the main roles is crazier. And being one of the main roles in your first time being part of a production is even crazier. I'm still very thankful that I got to be a part of something so cool---being in the company of Curtain Call was an experience that I couldn't compare to anything else, and I'm glad it went through---our funds went to our beneficiary, House of Hope Foundation for Kids With Cancer Inc., and we ended up handling a community outreach later in the year.
